Taranaki Cancer Centre (TCC) at Taranaki Base Hospital will house a new linear accelerator (LINAC) – which uses radiation to destroy cancer cells, while leaving surrounding tissue undamaged. Taranaki Cancer Centre is also a 5-star Green Star for both Design and As-built interiors, which means this beautiful building allows lots of natural light, thermal comfort and air quality. This cancer centre will be beneficial to more than 300 Taranaki people each year who require radiation treatment and will no longer have to attend their appointments at multiple locations and facilities. The new TCC includes 10 chairs and two single isolation rooms for chemotherapy, 8 outpatient consult rooms with video conferencing capability, restful and appropriate decor wait space, Whanau facilities and more.
